The nicotine patch helps. You have to understand the addiction though. There are two very seperate parts to this, the habit part and the chemical part. It's VERY hard to fight them both at once. The nicotine patch gives you the daily nicotine you need while you combat the habit part. Instead of smoking you have to do something else, I bought a stress ball to occupy my hands and a handheld suduko game. I also snack on healthy foods, chew gum etc. The nicotine patch goes to a smaller dose after a few weeks so you start to wean yourself off the nicotine addiction after you've already combatted the habit part. So it's much easier to deal with the chemical side of things. Some suggestions, change your routine, drive a different way to work, brush your teeth when you want to smoke like after meals. Don't drink alcohol for a while as this can loosen inhibitions and make you weaker!
Good Luck!

If you mean in quitting, don't do what I did. After 6 days in the hospital after having a heart attack I was pretty detoxed and I've stayed off tobacco for 12 years today. Do it *before* something bad happens.

I just recently quit smoking.....I went to my doctor and got WELBUTRIN PILLS......They worked really really really good for me......I smoked for 16 years and I'm going on 28 days of NOT smoking!!!!!!!!!!! Try it out -K- and GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!! ;-)

My mom and my grandmother have both been having good sucess with Chantix pills. It's pricy, but both say that it's been worth the cost.

its very hard, but if you want to stop smoking, the best way is go cold turkey.
