I read that some women won't quit smoking for fear of gaining weight,is this true? The only reason people gain weight after giving up smoking is because nicotine is an appetitie suppressant, so when you stop smoking you tend to be hungrier and eat more. Also in the absence of one "comfort" (ie cigarettes) you may eat more junk food and fattening things like chocolate bars where previously you would have had a cigarette. The easy answer is to watch your weight and your diet when giving up smoking. and get some exercise. Yes, it's true. in some cases yes, when my aunt quit smoking she gained weight. but with exercise and a well balanced diet it shouldn't be a problem. yeah, this preacher on t.v this morning was talking about some lady who wouldn't quit smoking b/c she thought she'd get fat......... Funny thing is, that in the long run, it looks like smoking will make you fatter. At least in teenagers. http://www.urmc.rochester.edu/pr/news/st... |
