What is the best way to give up smoking? |
i have tried patches, cold turkey, and gum. i am temtped with hypnotism and perhaps electic shock therapy lol! but i really want to give up. any reformed smokers out there got any tips? hi Emma cold Turkey fill a glass jam jar half way with the contents of your ashtray, add boling water...let this cool down cover with the lid and shake purpose of the jar is to smell the contents.. it.is stomach retching and stops you from wanting another ciggerette, take each hour as it comes and stiff the jar...it really works i gave up five yrs ago end of october GOOD LUCK i tried chewing tobacco, swirling it for 20 seconds, and spitting it out. worked till i started drinking again! My f-in-law, a Scot, sat down and calculated how much it was costing him each year. That did it for him. Whatever motivates you, do it. You can thank yourself later. well i have been smoking since i was 12 so i know how it is.... go to therapy The only was to stop smoking is to slow it down and then stop. You dont want to get lung disease and up ( well you know). Smoking is bad for you,,,,and for the rst of us non smokers as well. i used carrots every time i wanted a cig i just eat a carrot or try something not fating which you like You can only really give up if you want to. If you're struggling, try telling yourself this: 'I'm the one whose about to open the pack, pop the ciggy in my mouth, find the lighter and light it, even though I don't want to. Why, in God's name, am I going to all that trouble for something I don't want to do? Instead, why don't I just not do it?' The best friend you'll have is will power, but this is nothing without being self-aware. Just keep looking at yourself and constantly questioning your motivations - eventually, your brain will get tired of you asking the same old thing and you won't even consider lighting up in the first place. Good luck from a 20-a-day man for 12 years - off the smokes for 9 months to date. |
