What's the best way to get my daughter to quit smoking? |
My daughter starting smoking a few months ago. She's way, way too young. What's the best way, or resource so I can get her to stop. I do smoke, so it's a bad example. I don't wanna be mean or hard on her either. Quit smoking together. I dont know where you're from but in Oz we have the quitline, they can send you any information you want; from how to quit to the medical effects of smoking. Show her some really nasty pictures of diseased lung tissue, show her the list of toxic chemicals in ciggarettes (benzine, used in rat poison, for example) and tell her about how smoking ages you faster and causes wrinkles and yellow teeth. Source(s): www.quitnow.info.au www.cancerinstitute.org.au/can... You know your daughter way better than anyone here. With my daughter, I let her know how much money it would cost in yearly amounts, how much money she was giving the government in taxes, etc..... i quit smoking when i started going to the gym. you cant work out if you have been smoking, you are just gona get shortness of breath. you could go and work out with your daughter or she can play tennis, basketball, voleyball etc. my aunt with through with this with her daughter... Try what she did, go talk to a doctor in your spare time... Try to ake an injury, show her smoking is a bad thing, fake an asthma attack or cancer in some case, she'll understand why you did it much later in life... If you don't want to fake it, may I suggest my own treatment? Have her interview someone whom has had a major effect due to cigarette smoking or even 2nd hand exposure. hope all works out, remember, "In your daughters eyes you see the impact from her mother" Quit smoking and find an incentive for her to follow suit. Quit with her. Make it a joint project that you'll both complete successfully. Make a goal, meet it, get a reward. Like health. Nothing you say is going to really register as long as you're smoking. She'll think you're hypocritical, because that's what young people will notice.....contradiction. So.....you love her enough to want her to stop. Do you love her enough to stop yourself? You can do it! The nicotine lozenges are REALLY effective. There's also a new product, a hand gel. I think Wal-Green's is gonna carry it; it's from the U.K. The sooner you stop, the sooner you can celebrate such a tremendous victory.....together. |
