Can you smoke after taking a radioactive pill for a thyriod test??



I just took one, and would really like a cigarette...

Well, you shouldn't. I'm sure it wouldn't really matter if you did. Basically, other than its intended effect, the radioactive pill will probably weaken your immune system and the rest of your body a little but not too much. I suggest trying to hold off smoking, but if you really need to, I don't think you'll die.

However, smoking might affect the accuracy of the test. The best thing to do is ask your doctor. Try using a nicotine patch for a while.
