Day 40 with out a smoke, when will I stop craving them?

And having mood swings? Pitty my family!

congratulations! I feel happy for your family I dont pity them because this is only a temporary thing.
I also quit smoking, its been almost 9 years. I hate to say I occasionally do crave still today but rare.
The first 3 months are the hardest. You can do it and good for you!
probably in thenext three weeks depending on how long you smoked.
At this point, the cravings and mood swings are mental. Nicotine is no longer in your system. Chances are the cravings are part of an oral fixation and the moodiness is a result of not fulfilling that fixation.

When I quit, after a week I had no cravings other than those from the feeling of boredom which was why I smoked anyway. And I never had mood swings from it. Ask your doctor if there is something you can take to ease your moodiness.
in about 50 years when you die. The craving will never go away, it will just manifest it self less often.
Kudos to you for quiting! It's not an easy task. I quit smoking July 4, 1999 and I still get cravings, but not as often. I get them when I'm stressed and sometimes if I smell it. I found I had to develop healthier ways of dealing with my stress...so if I get a strong craving now I go for a walk. It seems to help.
First of all, congratulations to you!
Second, as you reach the two month (60 day) level, your body should have eliminated a lot of the nicotine that has caused the cravings, but there will still be times when you remember how good of a "rush" a smoke gave you.
Third, I stopped (notice I didn't say quit) over 14 years ago and I still have dreams that i am smoking (and feel guilty) and enjoying it.
It is the MOST difficult of all addictions to conquer. Heroin, Alcohol, Meth, are all easier than tobacco to overcome. You need to stay with it for your health and your family's sake.
They may be miserable with your mood swings now, but they would rather have the mood swings than not have you around or have to experience second hand smoke.
