My Mom is pregnant at 47, and she smokes meth! What kind of health problems will arise?


I am worried so much that my Mom will have a child with down syndrome or something. I am already positive that it will get taken away. What can happen to the child?

If the baby is born with drugs in its system it will DEFINITELY be taken away. By law, doctors must report this. If you can't get your mom into some sort of treatment you can call 1-800-335-1500. That's the number for the Department of Human Services (Child Protection). At least you can dial that in California. I don't know where you are. But you can look it up on line probably and find the Department in your city/community/state. You might also want to look up "Human Services Agency".
If the child is born with drugs in it's system, the state will step in and take the child.
Why is she doing drugs in the first place??? I think the baby will either come out premature or have down syndrome, like you said. You might try doing some research or something?
wow well if you can get her to stop try for the baby sake! but he might have mental problems with the smoking, the age thing that implies other kind of stuff she is quite old for babies so it might be twins
It will be a "crack baby," a child born with an addiction to drugs. You need to get your mother help asap.
The child will be highly unhealthy, and probably hooked on the drugs the mother takes. I don't know the full effects of the drug though, cause I'm not in the medical field. I suggest more in depth research in medical books and on the internet, if you don't want to let your doctor know your mom is on drugs.
alot can happen, the baby could get taken away the baby could be born retarted, or even wourse the baby could be born dead, she needs help and maybe you maybe the only one to help her.
