I either reach for food or sleep when I get emothionally stressed or overworked. What are better alternatives


I am a go to person, so everyone dumps--that I can't control, but I should be able to control my reaction...worry, stress, resonsibility to solve problems....am I messed up or just too sensitive and how can I correct my thinking pattern?

You need to associate those feelings with other actions... (You asked me to elaborate- Meaning- When you are stressed, you need to shift your mind set from "I reach for food, or sleep..." Then it becomes a habit & can trigger that type of behavior. When you can stop associating the actions with the feelings, it is easier to move away from it.)
I'd say take up a "distraction" or hobby... And when you start this distraction, don't give into the sleep or food...
Easier said than done... But... When you make it routine, it will be easier to keep up with...

Exercise, painting or drawing, writing, playing an instrument, listening to music.
