Older people do stress more more about surgery. B Its really not too bad. After you're admitted, an Anesthesiologist will start you IV and that's the only needle stick you'll have. And, they'll numb you first so it won't hurt. They'll medicate you for nausea just in case the anesthesia makes your stomach upset, give you something to relax. All of this goes thru your IV. You can have someone with you until you go into the OR. At least that's how we do it in Hawaii. Then, when you go into the OR, they put monitors on you, give you something to sleep thru your IV, tell you to count backwards from 10 and by the time you reach 7 you're out. The next thing you know, you're in the recovery room and someone is waking you up and you're telling the 10 more minutes...then it's back to Short Stay for ice cream and home...or, some people, an over night stay or pampering by nurses. Prayer they put you out and you wake up and its over yoga really relaxes you, it helps me relax, maybe u should try that :) |
