How should i deal with pre operative stress and tension?

im 19 yrs old and i have a tonsillectomy surgery scheduled after 3 weeks and since a week im havin a lot of stress and keep on thinking of it. i know what they will do the procedure but i am very scared of it and because of this my concentration level has also gone down and with my exams heading in 2 weeks i dont even feel like studying. all i do is think and feel scared even after knowing that its a very small surgery. what should i do to release this tension i tried a lot to forget it but i cant.

Older people do stress more more about surgery. B Its really not too bad. After you're admitted, an Anesthesiologist will start you IV and that's the only needle stick you'll have. And, they'll numb you first so it won't hurt. They'll medicate you for nausea just in case the anesthesia makes your stomach upset, give you something to relax. All of this goes thru your IV. You can have someone with you until you go into the OR. At least that's how we do it in Hawaii. Then, when you go into the OR, they put monitors on you, give you something to sleep thru your IV, tell you to count backwards from 10 and by the time you reach 7 you're out. The next thing you know, you're in the recovery room and someone is waking you up and you're telling the 10 more minutes...then it's back to Short Stay for ice cream and home...or, some people, an over night stay or pampering by nurses.
it's really not as bad as people think. I get a lot of people that was so stressed out when they came in that their blood pressures were sky high and they said they dreaded this day. But after the surgery, I'd ask them how it went and they'd tell me, "Piece of cake" And they were having bigger surgerys. So I hope the information I gave you will help you relax a little.

Prayer

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

they put you out and you wake up and its over
sooo nothing to stress about

yoga really relaxes you, it helps me relax, maybe u should try that :)
