Do i have acute stress disorder?


well ive been posting alot of questions about social anxiety etc etc and i decided ile just say what my main problem is, from as far as i can remember in childhood i was always WORRYING to much, if i was left in the car by my self for 5 minutes i'd cry cause i'd think someone is gonna kidnap me, i'd think my mother has been kidnaped/killed if she was a couple of minutes late, and ever since then ive always had thins on my mind and now i get paranoid people are gonna come and bash me, if someone is walking past me on the street i will try avoid them cause i think there gonna phsically attack me, my heart pounds 10000 miles an hour for someone just coming in my direction with a bit of a mean face on, am i paranoid? if so OF WHAT? any treatment? thanks..

see a psychologist and they should be able to help you learn to rationalise your thought processes.
if they think you need meds they'll probably suggest a psychiatrist, but if you see a psychologist regularly hopefully you won't need long term meds.
the fact that you know your thoughts are irrational is a very good sign- a bit of help and you should be fine!

(psychiatrists should be able to help too, but they are insanely expensive and often prescribe a drug then send you on your way)

I think in this day and age the kind of media story's
justify yours and many other peoples anxiety's
in fact they fuel them.

Try not listening to news , not watching the overload
of detective and mass murder stories. anything like
these for say a month or two and see if you start
feeling any better, and oh try filling those times with
good positive things.
Watch comedies, have laughs with friends about funny
times or silly times whatever, same with family do positive
things in these periods and see if there is change.
Before medication , i always believe in self help
