Possible stress fracture to ankle... HELP!?

I am a figure skater and was working on some new jumps when i fell. I never really thought anything of it (my ankle hurt some, but i just kind of brushed it off and continued practicing). Finally it hurt to much to keep going so i got off the ice. After I took my skate off a noticed a huge bump ( a hematoma) on my ankle. The next day i went to the hospital where they x-rayed it. They told me it was sprained, wraped it, gave me crutches, and told me to stay off of it. Well i have to quick my skating season early because the huge lump never went away and was to painful to put in my skate. I went to my own docter and he too sent my for x-rays and an ultrasound. They said nothing much showed and it should heal soon. Well it is now going on 5 months and the lump is still there. The pain now only comes and goes but when it does is goes but the sides and back of my leg.

Is it possible that i may have a stress fracture and they never saw it because it was swolen?

PLEASE HELP!!!

I wear an ankle brace everyday and ice and elevate it as much as i can at night

you can have a CT scan ,

oo that sounds bad, i think you do have a stress fracture go to your own doctor again and mention it to him or her

Wow it sounds rather painful I think you may have stress fracture.

Stress fractures are small cracks in the bone caused by repetitive stresses or overuse, such as the repetitive impact on the bones.

I found this great article on Stress Fracture it says:

Symptoms of stress fractures are fairly focused. Pain usually increases with weight bearing activities and diminishes with rest. Pain is most severe at the beginning of the activity then subsides in the middle of the activity and increases in severity near the end. The pain continues as a dull throb after the activity. Swelling and point tenderness around the site of the fracture may also occur. The pain will gradually get worse and may occur earlier in the workout over time. If left untreated the pain may become unbearable.
