Post traumatic stress?? |
is it possible for some one who went through a tramatic string of events causing or leading up to a total nervous breakdown to revisit the past with a post tramatic stress disorder? what can trigger this if it is possible and can it come back years after the events occured? Essentially, this is what PTSD is. Triggers are varied depending on the trauma and the person. For instance, when folks touch my neck I get flashbacks (that's what this revisiting is called) of a knife on my neck from a bad past experience. Not always, but sometimes. Yes, it's possible. A trigger for it could be something that happens now that is similar to what happened in the past. Eight years ago I had a car accident where I was hit from behind. Last year the same thing happened again. It triggered an anxiety attack that made me afraid to drive my car. I am now taking meds and doing fine. |
