My chest gets tight when I stress, what can i do?? |
when i get stressed or frustrated my chest gets tight. I stop what i'm doing and try to relax. Sometimes i get sharp pains along or after it. My doctor told me that at 19 i'm too young to have hearts problems so it's just stress....what can i do to relax When you get that feeling; take longer, slower breaths. When tense, you're taking shallow breaths and your chest muscles are deprived of oxygen and all muscle tissue responds to oxygen deprivation with pain. That's why a heart attack hurts so much - it's cuz the blocked artery is starving the heart muscle tissue, and it reacts with pain. Again, deeper, longer, slower breaths will not just ease the pain, but re-establish the normal pattern of healthy breathing. Good luck! :) My husband has the same problem. He started getting it at nineteen also. It became so bad that he couldn't breath. The doctor told him to take a pain pill that actually made it worse. The only thing that has helped him, was seeing the chiropractor. Then I started to go to massage school. Now I know exactly how to fix the problem. Getting a massage relaxes his muscles and keeps it away for a long time. If it starts to hurt I give him a massage. I suggest you do the same. It is very relaxing. Try to find a therapist that knows trigger point therapy. But one that doesn't can still help. Good luck! |
