My granddaughter has phoraisis all over her body, it gets irriatated when stressed. What can we use OTC?

Is there something we can use other than the medicines from the doctor? She is going into middle school and that is what has flared her phoraisis. Please Help!

I have struggle with psoriasis since I was about that age, and yes, I know it is tough.
The best product I have found to work is Neutrogena TGel shampoo. It takes a couple days to work but I like it a lot. Another thing that works for me is the sun. I know it seems a bit backward, but my Dr told me to try being out in the sun for a bit each day, and it really worked, it greatly reduced the severity of the flare up. Just be careful not to burn, that will have the obvious effect.
Another trick that I learned through the years is to use a ex-foliant ( I sometimes even use a pumus stone on some areas that are really bad) and then I apply a thick moisturizing cream, such as a foot/heel cream. I do that right before bed and have had good luck with it. One thing that I found is that I have better luck with unscented and hypo-allergenic lotions and creams.

Over the years i have experimented with MANY MANY different things and some have worked and some have not. She will find that some things that work for others, won't work for her, and vise versa. She will also find that some things that work well for one flare up, may not work at all for the next.

Good luck, and I hope that she does well with middle school!

my email is kzoogirl@excite.com if you or her have more questions, I would be happy to help.

If it really is "all over" her body, the only answer is to see a dermatologist. OTC stuff will be a feeble stop-gap at best since you'll spend a lot of money for marginal results. One tube of cortisone will be just about enough for one, maybe two, whole-body applications.

Getting out in the sun for a little while every day may help.

I have a friend whose 6 year old was helped with a Chinese herbal treatment , and have since seen reports that there is some success with this I recall that she was also advised against some foods, mainly chocolate and anything very high in sugar As a sufferer in the past it does seem to be stress related, I found sunbathing helped me, plus moisturerising creams.I used cortisone cream , such as Betnovate, but be aware that long term use is inadvisable
