If so.. how do you completely clear your mind without ur thoughts jumping all over the place? Hello
Yes, meditation as well as self hypnosis are excellent for stress.
What your talking about is the Monkey Mind, you do not get involved with those thoughts, just watch them & let them go.

The section, Calm Mind, in the Zhuan Falun book discusses the topics in details. A portion of the passage from page #179 reads: "Being able to still your mind indicates your mastery. Your power of concentration is a reflection of your level. ... ... We know that Shakyamuni taught 鈥淐oncentration.鈥?But what did he teach before Concentration? He taught 鈥淧recept.鈥?You can only achieve Concentration when you鈥檝e given up all your desires and passions, when nothing鈥檚 left. Isn鈥檛 that how it works? But Concentration is a kind of mastery, and you won鈥檛 be able to completely fulfill Precept in one shot. As you slowly give up all those bad things of yours your ability to concentrate will improve step by step."
Falun Gong is very interesting because it's a unique Buddhist School, teaching an ancient qigong practice for the body, mind, and spirit. The practice is based upon the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Falun Gong consists of five sets of powerful exercises. The online book provides easy to understand concept in the practice.
Falun Gong, Tibetans, other Buddhists, and Christians have been persecuted in China. The most offensive human right violation is the organ harvesting from the Falun Gong practitioners in China.
It's important to stop the Chinese Communist regime's human right violation. Can you kindly sign a petition to stop persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, please ?

You choose a meditation method/technique and practice it.
Daily is best.
Even if as a beginner you at first practice for only five or ten minutes during a 'sitting'.
If you can, make it a habit to practice at the same time and in the same place every day.
There are hundreds if not thousands of different meditation techniques.
Three very common ones are watching the breath, chanting mantra, and trataka (focusing on an external object such as candle flame or image of a deity).
Between each and every thought there is a gap.
A very tiny gap in the typical busy, undisciplined mind.
Thru practice of meditation, we seek to expand and lengthen these gaps, and dwell in the calm there.
New thoughts still come and distract us, but part of the practice is to get better at catching when we get distracted by a chain of thoughts, and then gently/calmly return our focus to what ever technique we use.
This pattern of getting distracted and the returning to our method repeats itself many times during a sitting.
Don't become discouraged, or think you are the only one whose thoughts keep distracting you.
It is entirely normal to take years of practice to make progress.
I beleive every little bit of daily practice it is worth it.
If you do a web search on 'beginning meditation', 'chanting mantra', or 'trataka', you should find quite a bit of info to get you started.
Best wishes,
Namaste',
