What is a better way to deal with stress?


I have been smoking and its very stupid financially and health wise. I have just been stressed out lately and it seems to help.

However, as you try to switch, you are going to have problem with quitting, which will cause more stress. First of all, nicotine is actually a stimulant, a stressor. Usually when people "relax" with stressors, like cigarettes or coffee, they don't realize that it makes them feel better because: (a) there's usually a ritual involved, even if it is only stopping for a few minutes to indulge their addiction, and (b) you expect it to relax you (the brain does a great many things). These counter-balance or even outdo the stress of a cigarette, at least for a while (eventually, you will get more stressed, need more cigarettes, etc.)

I'm betting it is the stopping part that helps you and anything you try should probably involve that. Some sort of relaxation ritual helps once it is built and habit. However, it isn't so much as "use this technique" as finding the one that works best for you.

I suffer from alot of stress and personally i find these things helpful.. deep breathing, taking lots of exercise, getting plenty of sleep and taking lots of vitamin c.
Seriously when i'm stressed out one of the first things i do is take between 1000mg - 2000mg of vitamin c a day to help my body handle the stress. Stress significantly reduces vitamin c in the body and the body needs it more during times of stress. Also B vitamins are good stress busters. Calcium and magnesium helps you relax if anxiety is a problem.

There are many stress relief practices you can do that only take a short amount of time. Take deep, cathartic breaths while not think at all of your wedding. Maybe, a nice peice of chocolate, for instance. Hire a wedding planner that can do most of everything and that will put you at ease. Ask your to-be-husband for help, also. And congrats!
