if you are able to, defintely take some days off and stay home and do nothing but rest and eat! and if you can afford it, how about some much deserved spa treatments and massages?
buy her tickets for the operah
my advice is always when you have your break, listen to soothing music, meditate, when you go back home, have a hot bath , and go to sleep.... that should relax a bit... i tried it... it helped me to calm down.... good luck
Hi, In the hospitals all over the states there are not enough nurses to do all their patients and nurse duties. They seen to be short of nurses and i don't know if people are getting away from this kind of work because of lower pay, over worked and so on. I would think if i was a nurse i myself wouldn't put up with all the stress that comes with their jobs. I was in the hospital last year and have seem just how understaffed they really are.

Take a break and go for a vacation. A break from ones work is always good because it gives one a bit of time and space for oneself.
Another alternative is to organise ones time after duties: for example - listening music, reading interesting books, participating social gatherings. The most important thing is to get enough sleep.
i'm a nurse as well & would agree that you need to take a break; but also ask yoursel if there's a specific thing that's causing you to be more stressed than usual !!
I think that some environments are more stressful than others. As nurses alot is expected of us and now we have an extended role. It is extremely stressful and I fully understand how that feels. You have to when you leave work try and forget the stress of work. Once you leave the work place leave the stress behind. Make time to see your friends, do lunch, watch tv. Do whatever you find helps reduce the stress and take your mind off it. If you find going to the gym helps, a swim after work-try that. Reading a good book can take you into another world. Sadly alot of my friends and collegues are on beta blockers, and that really says alot about how stressful the job is. A friend of mine recently had a massage and said that helped alot. Reiki is another option. another thing to do is to speak to the ward sister and explain that you feel that your workload is causing you stress, because unless we say and do something it becomes acceptable to be working to such a high stress level. Delegate your work if you can, you do not do yourself or patients any favours if you try to do everything by yourself.
