Five tips on relieving stress? 1. Sex 2. Running 3. Drinks 4. A punching bag 5. Working out 6. Screaming 7. Crying 8. going for a drive 9. going for a walk there are way more than 5. Just 1. Last year I was abusing alcohol. I drank to relieve stress, because I was/am obsessive & couldn't let go of stressful issues. I drank a 6-pack per day during the week & half a liter of tequila Fri/Sat/Sun. Then on November 1st, I started (Soto) Zen meditation & stopped drinking & all the problems went away. I have been MUCH more serene since then, with no inclination to drink 234 days so far :-) It's not much of a sacrifice - 30 minutes per day. BTW - if I miss meditation for a day or even 2, I DO feel the difference the next day. I become unsettled & just a little "off". But getting back to meditation & it's all fine again. Stress can arise for a variety of reasons. Any change in our lives can be stressful. In dealing with stress, the lifestyle needs a complete overhaul.
