Burning sensations in foot after stroke???

Someone I know had a stroke about two years ago. After the stroke, the person felt burning sensations in their foot and hand. It was unbearable for him, and the doctors had nothing to say. The doctors were going to give him Oxycontin, which is sometimes used as a drug. He stopped taking this after finding out about the negative effects. I'm desperate to know how to help him become relieved of this pain, as it still bothers him after more than two years. Has anyone been through this type of experience? Have you found a way to decrease the pain? All suggestions would be helpful.

If nothing else works they may perform what is called a rhizotomy.

Rhizotomy:
Surgical section of the spinal nerve roots for the relief of pain or spastic paralysis.

But again this is only for severe constant pain

Did he do Thearpy after the stroke? I would say that is the most important thing you can do. Work with a good Phyical Thearpist, and this will work wonders. The more excerise and phyical activity you can get the better. Also is he on Calicum supplements, This could be very important. It could help alot. Good luck

Did they rule out diabetes or gout?
