My friend Had A stroke? |
I am hoping someone can help me here, I am trying to stay strong as someone I have been dating for a few months is in the hospital now due to a stroke! 2 days before having the stroke he had just gotten out of the hospital from a heart attack that the doctors said was caused by a viral infection. (from my understandings.) My friend is a 38 year old male, he had messaged me and told me that he was still feeling weak and sick so he was going to a dr.s appointment. Within that half hour of that message his father found him laying on the floor in his home, due to the stroke! His family told me I shouldnt go see him as he looks really bad, They say the only thing he does is rub their skin when they speak to him and maybe glance at them. He was damaged on the left side of his brain. This happened on Dec. 21st and he's still in ICU. How long will it go before there are any changes? Or is it really bad news having no changes in 3 days? I feel like their not telling me everything.I am so worrie yes I believe it is a serious situation. a stroke that puts someone in the ICU for 3 days is serious. A stroke is a very serious thing. It isn't the end of his life by no means, but he has a long recovery ahead of him. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts. When that happens, part of the brain cannot get the blood (and oxygen) it needs, so it starts to die. the first 24 hours of a stroke are the most important hours of signs of recovering from this ,if it's been three days and there has been no change where he is is what you have now, it will be a long ,very long recovery and at this time he has no idea whats happening to him,and would have a hard time even realizing who you are,it's like he had a heart attack in his brain ,if you go see him realize it might take him a very long time to respond to you ,say one word at a time. say a prayer Definily go see him, but steel yourself for finding any number of changes like unintelligible speech and loss of motor skills, possibly confusion on his part. That time lying in bed waiting for therapy sessions is a time that you will be most needed by him.Running away from what happened will bring you or him no releif. Helping him understand that althogh his life may be changed forever but there still is room for him in your life with or without his deficits and its not too much trouble to lend a hand whereever neededto help him on his way with whatever he faces, which can be formidible and at times very uncomfortable for both of you |
