Is it true that blood letting saves stroke victims?

There are two types of strokes: an occlusion stroke, or blockage, and a hemorrhage stroke. In an occlusion stroke a blood clot is blocking the arteries in the brain and the parts that aren't getting blood due to this start to die. In a hemorrhage stroke, a blood vessel bursts and blood will fill the intracranial area.
To save a stroke patient, you need to know which kind of stroke they had. If it's an occlusion stroke, clot-busting drugs can be given within the first 3 hours of the stroke to break down that clot and allow blood to return to the starved areas of the brain.
If it's a hemorrhage stroke, you need to try to stop the bleed, remove the excess blood filling the spaces in the brain, and replace the blood that the patient has lost.

So, to answer your question, I don't think that losing blood from the fingers will have any effect on a stroke patient.

no, because due to the thrombosis in the blood system simply replacing the blood doesn't tell the body to make it's blood less thick. This is why strokes occur-due to thick blood
