Aneurysms and stroke?

I have a friend that ether had a stroke or aneurysm bust shes in a coma now they say half her brain is dead is it possible for someone to recover from this?have any of you heard of peoples brain healing or can be healed?

I dont know which it was she had but I know she had blood come from her nose and mouth if this helps any.

It's hard to say what your friends' prognosis really will be, her doctor will have to answer that for you and her family.

She most likely had a stroke. Aneurysms are more of the blood vessel problems (my mom had a double when I was a kid, I thought she was going to die). They are much easier to repair than the effects of a stroke.

A stroke is basically a part of your body, usually the brain, dying. It's like having a seizure without recovery. Some people do survive strokes with little to no signs of them ever having any problems, but others, like your friend, will either never recover fully, or will die as a result of their "injuries".

Now, is it possible for her to recover? Sure. But will she be the same? Most likely not. It all depends on the extent of the damage. Since you say half of her brain is dead, I would think her chances of surviving are pretty low, but you never know.

Talk to her family and her doctor for better answers. They are more intune with what's going on. Good luck and I hope she makes it.

Well, the brain does have plasticity (ability to heal itself) and has an amazing ability to re-wire itself. The only bad thing about half of the brain dying means that it will either never heal or find a new way to work, but will never be normal. For example, if the left side had died, your friend would never be able to speak comprehensively, process words, language or anything like that. Generally, if half the brain is already dead, the person will probably die as well :(
