When someone is having a stroke...?

do they feel pain in their head? do they feel something in their brain? I heard you dont feel pain in the brain is this true?

I would disagree with that.

Pain in the brain can be felt during a stroke, but pain does not always occur either.

It also depends on the severity of the stroke. Some are massive, some are not.

Depends on how sevre the stroke was. Some don't even know they've had one.

you can have pain, you may not have pain. a headache is not a sign of a stroke, id be more worried about; paralysis on one side of the body, slurred speech, changes in vision, a droopy facial expression, weak motor function or strength on one side of the body. but as far as pain in the head/brain, sure you can have pain, depending if its a hemorrhagic or plain ischemia from a blockage. bleeding can cause pressure to build up in your skull and pressure would certainly cause pain.

Ask the person to
Smile鈥hile you look for facial weakness, especially on one side
Raise both arms鈥hile you watch for both arms to remain at the same height
Speak a simple sentence鈥hile you listen for slurring
Stroke is a leading cause of death and serious long-term disability in Washington. Although most of those who experience stroke are in their 60s, 70s, 80s, and older 鈥?stroke can occur at any age. In Washington, about 10 people die from stroke every day.

Stroke affects the arteries that deliver oxygen and other nutrients to the brain. Someone affected by stroke might have difficulty speaking, lose the ability to lift their arms or walk, have difficulty seeing in one or both eyes, experience numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, and can quickly lose consciousness. Quick action and medical attention can reduce permanent brain damage and disability and potentially save someone鈥檚 life.

It is important for everyone to know how to identify a stroke and when to call 9-1-1 for help. This is especially important for African Americans, who have among the highest rates of disability and death due to stroke
