Am worried about my dad. He is old and had 4 mini strokes?

He is 69 years old.
He has high blood pressure too - which is prob the main reason he had stroke

He had 4 mini stroke before. He isnt paralysed. When he first had mini strokes, he was stiff and coudlnt move. His left side went all numb. He collapsed 1st time and 2nt time because of this.
He had a tumour which recently been removed. But he wont tell us much about his health. He prefers to go Drs on his own.

He is out and about. His does do bit walking. Slow walking.

Am scared am going to lose him. We dont get along because he abused me in the past. But i always think about him and miss him.
I always try to think about the good things, although he has done things that really hurt me.
(when ever he was angry out of all my bro's and sisters he always used beat me up, or shout at me - for any reason. It just happened to be me, one day i got really fed up and left.)
When i go see my family often, he doesnt talk to me, and still sometimes would shout at me. and used to ruin

The Visits.
A lot of people said 鈥渁re you sure he is your dad, especially if he just picks on you鈥?鈥?he is my dad. And I look a lot like him
Am scared I will lose him. I don鈥檛 want to lose him. Because deep down I love him lots and I miss him and worry about him all the time.
Do people survive after strokes ?
What happens when they have a big stroke? Can they die?

Mini strokes are called Transient Ischemic Attacks and aren't exact same as a general stroke in the way that the effects are temporary. My Gran is 87 years old and in a care home and she has been having them for about two years now and she is still here. No one can predict when your Dad will die, but we all die one day anyhow. I am sorry that you have suffered and are still suffering. The best thing I could suggest is that you get help from a counsellor, talk these difficult feelings through, and be able to move forwards in your life. Take care

Well ive been told that people wud survive a big stroke if its their first time.. They wud b lucky to survive a second big stoke but for the third time its unlikely.. Good luck and sorry 2 hear bout ur dad.

The more strokes a person has, the greater risk they are at. The risk of having another stroke can be reduced by making sure that your Dad takes his asprin every day and his statins and blood pressure medication if he has them. He could also eat a healthier diet, cutting out bad fat and salt etc

Yes they can survive with a big stroke but can also die! They often have mini strokes there after aswell.
A big stroke often leads to part paralysis, being peg fed or/and speech loss.
Just respect the fact they want to go to the doctors on their own,it's a personal choice.I have the same situation with my mum who I know has been told she only has a certain time to live as she has cancer but she won't tell all.Just spend as much quality time as possible now cos you neverknow what's round the corner!

It is quite possible for a person to live for years after a stroke. And you really can't do anything with your dad until he's ready to let you help- which, from the way you describe him, may be never.

It's also possible for a person to die after a stroke.

Have you perhaps considered getting counseling for yourself? Love it one thing, but dependency on someone who's going to abuse you is another.

Good luck.
