What is it called when you hear about something (heart attack, stroke for example) you get symptoms? |
It happens to me all the time. Last night I was at a seminar, the more the woman spoke of heart attacks and strokes, the more my chest and back hurt, I couldn't sit up, I had trouble breathing..I wondered, strongly for minutes if I should speak up and tell this woman I was actually having chest pains NOW. I talked myself out of it knowing that this has happened before, the more details I get, the more my blood pressure raises and I feel it in my body...sympathetic pregnancy is the only thing I can think that closely relates to what my mind was equating to the reactions. Once she was done, I got up, walked around and slowly relaxed and took deep breaths again... what was up with that? Sympathy pains or psychological identity or psychosomatic. We call it Empthizing with the person, you are having similar emotions that you are hearing why not just walk away until you learn to control this , ? no real reason to have a breakdown over some one elses symptons or being in distress. Hypochondriac? I know there's a name for that. |
