How to better care of a stroke patient??

I am doing home health care and my first patient is a stroke patient who has lost a lot of his ability to speak, and I have a lot of guess work.
This man has so much spirit, and still enjoys a lot of life, he is 82 years old. I do everything I can to make him comfortable, and feel cared for.
Is there any suggestions that any of you may have to help me help him??

try writing, but also you can listen to him by body language and spending time with him will help you with this.

try communicating by writing, if he is still capable of doing so. b4 you see him, write down some meaningful questions that you'd like to know about his life, ask about his childhood, or his fav memory of his family, and ect. have him right it down, read it out loud and then tell him what you think of it.

stroke in an elderly is common with some cause,it is only loss of speech but you have not told about writing capacity that gives second life for communication with preserved visual capacity. when all this thing go to mean good care rendered
