A good friend of mine has had a stroke,he hasnt got any physicial disabilities but has problems saying? |
what he wants to say,for example he rang earlier and said he was having a haircut when he meant he was having a cup of coffee,he doesnt seem to totally understand what we say to him and he cant remember things we say. He also has trouble saying names and cant really put a sentence together, his stroke was a week ago, he is still in hospital, what i really wanted to find out is how long this could last and how long he will be kept in hospital, just wondered if anyone out there had been through the same sort of stroke and would like to hear their experience.Its so frustrating for him,hes only 45 It will take time. Things will improve with therapy, have patience, always say to him "take your time " you can join the stroke club and learn how to help him more, just log onto their website, you will find lots of interesting articles there What a shame! It varies massively from case to case. I think this is called aphasia. Check it out on wiki, link below. I had a very bad stroke when I was 39 which left me paralysed on my left side but my speech wasnt badly affected luckily. when people have strokes it more often than not just affects one side of the brain. One side affects speech and the other physical movements. He may be offered some speech therapy. perseverance. You just need to be patient when your listening to him talk. don't be tempted to try and finish sentences for him it just emphasises his disability and will make him become more agitated. |

If you are I hope that other people do not give you the answer. ...It could be blood vessels constricting, see a doctor right away, please! ...Heart rates vary, and I don't think you have too low of a heart rate. You are considered bradycardic, but as long as you don't have associated symptoms (new weakness, dizzy, passing out)... sounds like a TIC, or nerve issue. generally they are harmless but annoying ...Try to remain as calm as you can under the circumstances. If you did have a small stroke, follow your doctor's advice to prevent any more. You may have to make life style changes, which can ... |
