Is it possible to have a stroke without anything showing up on a CT Scan?

My father has had uncontrollable type 2 diabetes for the past 20 years. Recently he had to go to the hospital because he couldnt focus and he lost his vision. They said they thought it was a stroke but nothing showed up on the CT scan. I called him today and he is showing all of the classic signs of someone who has had a stroke. He said he can no longer focus anymore, he can't walk straight anymore, and he is having a hard time putting a sentence together. Is it possible that he had a stroke? I am 33 weeks pregnant and I think they are trying to keep me calm.

Very possible. As good as CT scans are, when it comes to neurology work, ie. brain, it is best to use an MRI.
MR will show in much better detail, small stroke, problems and abnormalities with the optical nerve, and many other issues that may be related to his vision.

Diabetes by itself can cause blurred vision even blindness without any brain involvement.

Here is an amazing story about a girl who had a stroke. She's a neuroscientist and has studied strokes.

I'll keep him and your family in my prayers

This is my son's account, (keep forgetting to get my own) but I wanted to give you some peace of mind: It could just be a spring virus. He could get better (faster) if you have him eat organic food and drink a lot of water. Also get some vitamins that are immune system boosters.

I had a virus, probably West Nile, and I had those symptoms. I had brain MRI's ect... I just didn't want that last test to be sure it was West Nile, which was a (big needle) spinal tap. My doctor couldn't tell me for sure what it was. I had 5th disease (6 weeks before that my husband's mean family gave me), which caused me to be anemic. That made me get the bad symptoms of West Nile because I was left with immune problems, like an old person (when I was in my late 30's). A lot of young people get it, but don't realize it because their symptoms are mild if they're originally healthy. West Nile Virus has been genetically altered, read up on it. Back in the 1930's it never killed anyone (in Africa) or made people so sick like it's doing now. If he has it, then it could take years to recover if he doesn't get a special anemia drug.

Maybe he just should get the spinal tap or a second opinion from a different doctor with blood tests. Good luck and try to relax.

Yes, it is possible; especially in diabetes. It is also more important for you to be calm at your 33 weeks of pregnancy.
