My dad is in coma due to stroke. Will he wake up???

My dad is in coma for more than 24 hrs due to stroke. Sometime he will respone (moving his hands, trying to open his eyes, talk etc) when we talk to him. Anyone know someone who is in the same situation as my dad? Is he/her able to wake up?

Now my dad condition is improving except he still can't open his eyes. Tks for your advice and support.

Need not to worry I have seen thousands of cases pulling out of this type of condition, your better pray for him, OK.

He will most likely wake up, it depends with each person and the area of the brain he had the stroke in. Good Luck, hope he wakes up

Am sorry about your dad talk to his doc if you can.

Dude, i'm going to be straight up with you. Ur dad may wake up, he may not. My cousin died of diabetes and fell into a coma before she passed away. She was unresponsive. In some cases, depending on the cause, there is approximately a, 50/50 - 75/25 % chance that some one will wake up from a coma, depending on the circumstances. As for a stroke, that's pretty deep. right now, I can't even answer your qustion with numbers. All i can say is, just be hopeful, and have faith in the doctors.

Sorry, it's a scary time for you and your family. My ma didn't wake up, but the good news is that EACH person is different, so the absolute best answer you can get is from your dad's doctor.
Meanwhile, be really supportive to the rest of the family.
If praying isn't your thing, spend a few minutes each day imagining your dad back in tip top shape. And talk to him when you can even though he seems not to hear -- a perfect time to tell him the things that you haven't yet.
Good luck.

I'm sorry about your dad.

It hurts but, there isn't always 100% chance that your dad will wake up. It depends on your dad, whether his body will be able to move, etc. or fail.

Our prayers are w/ y00h.

D:

(Talk to the doctor, he/she might give you some possible information, and make sure you tell your dad the things you wanted to before he disappears from your hands)

Instead of wasting valuable time here, go stay with him.

There are many variables which affect whether or not a patient comes out of a coma following a stroke.
Was it an ischemic stroke, or a hemorrhagic one (bleeding in the brain)? How big of an area in the brain does it affect? Where was it in the brain? Brainstem strokes typically have a worse outcome than those in the cerebral hemispheres (unless it's a bleed).
You really need to discuss this with his neurologist/neurosurgeon. It's impossible to give you accurate information without having all the data.
