Jus had a stroke in nov 07 cani get dla ?

i ripped an atery on the right side of my neck which i did during an epiletic fit. I was taken to hospital but id no poer on my right hand side. my speech was slurred and it made no since. Apparently with the artery healin it set a few blood clots to my brain. this caused me to have a stroke and i had hydrocephilis in the brain ( fluid in the brain ). i 2have emergency surgery as i stopped breathing in the hospital. I had 7stitches 2the front of my head 2drain fluid out and 27 stitches at the bk of my head to release the pressure. I was in hospital for over a month.

apply and they will assess you, i would have thought you should get it but please get help from CAB with the forms as they can be complicated, plus this is a benefit that you are entitled to even if you can do some form of work. Good luck

it depends how severely you are disabled after it if at all. the way they assess dla has changed, they will try to find you a job that you can do alongside your disability, only if this is not possible will you get dla

I would suggest that you get in touch with welfare rights at your local council or social services .

Hi, Like everyone has said, get a welfare rights worker, CAB,
Occupation theropist, or is there a Stroke group in your area, they can advise you.

Also as has been mentioned before, it depends on how your disability affects you, and you have to go very, I stress very carfull in how you fill in the DWP-DLA form, otherwise you could have more stress than it is worth.

You must get very specific consultants letters, a letter from your occupational theripist, and if anyone is careing for you make sure they state how many hours they do a day for you.

You need to be at least 4-5 days a week unable to do things for your self any less and you will fall by they ways side.

Here is a link that it very usful, if you want more information you may have to join but I think it is 拢16 a year membership, it is the site I used to fill in my DLA forms.

Always email me

Good luck

The fact that you were in hospital with so many stiches etc wont matter with disiability living allowance.

It depends if you are affected by your stroke so that you are unable to work and function well enough.

I take it you are no longer an inpatient? Are you still recieving any medical treatment or rehabilitation? Ask your physio or occupational therapist for advice; they should be able to guide you in the right direction.

If you are no longer recieving any health or social care; your likelyhood is decreased, but it doesnt mean that you are not able to function properly; might mean you are out of the heath and social care loop.

Make an appointment with your GP or get advice from the CAB or even the job centre and they should guide you correctly.
