Stroke Symptoms, a stroke? |
Yesterday, I had every single stroke symptom, the numbness of one side of my body ( started with my fingers on my right, and worked up my arm, and to my tongue ), the slurring of the speech, dizziness, and things of that sort. I then went to smoke and the numbness in my tongue got worse, so I put it out. I then went to my stepfather and explained my symptoms to him, and he told me that all of my s were stroke symptoms, so I threw on a nicotine patch and decided to quit smoking for good, and I have not smoked in 24 hours. That night I got a bad headache, and felt weak and some what dizzy. I went to sleep finally, and this morning I was dizzy, but after I ate something and moved around, I felt and feel so much better. I am confused, was I having a stroke or what else could it have been? I am 17 years old and have been smoking for almost six years, and I weigh 95 lbs, and I am petite. I was smoking up to a pack a day, if this helps your answers. It sounds as if you may have had a TIA (transient ischemic attack, or "mini-stroke")..This can be a warning of a major stroke or due to some temporary disruption of blood flow to the brain. You made a good decision to stop smoking--that is a huge factor in strokes. Altho you feel OK, you really need to see a neurologist ASAP to be assessed & possibly be put on medication..They say that people who have TIAs often live longer than average, because they are aware of how easily it can happpen & they make huge efforts to control the risk factors that they can change. I had 3 actual stroke in my late 30's, & have been extremely fortunate to have lost only a tiny bit of my left field of vision in my left eye. I also quit smoking, & have had no further problems. My neurologist followed me every 3 months for 5 years to check on me, then released me, because he wasn't able to find any danger signs..Get it checked--you will feel a lot better about it.. Good luck!!! This is very worrying and i suggest you go to the doctor to discuss this. A stroke is what you have described symptoms-wise, the onyl difference being a stroke is permanant- if you'd had a full fledged stroke you would be the same today. I would go to the Doctor and explain it to them. I went today cause I have not been feeling good. Ive been so tired and weak and anxious ect. I finally decided that my own opinion as to what I have is not good enough. I am also a smoker and I am sure that does not help! Please...get it checked out quick. I dont like to go to Doctors, but when i have to I go. You are young and have your whole life and dreams ahead of you! God bless and good luck! you need to eat something and quit smoking you're way too young Go see a doctor because You are to small to be smoking that much a day. youare also to young. My friend smoked since he was fifteen and still does not have those symptoms. But he was very big at that age. the inside of you body is small. I think you must go to the doctor. The standard test for stroke is Hi Please get to a Dr. right away. If those were stroke symptoms, the next one could kill you or paralyze you permanently. |
