Stroke recovery for middle aged man? |
My 37-year-old father just suffered a massive stroke (clot) on the left side of his brain. He had the surgery to take care of the swelling, and he seems to be doing very well. He is very stubborn and always motivated. Is it possible for him to make a full recovery? Was he like that before surgery ? if not than it is a complication of Post Op. That is something you should ask the doctor. S/he is the best qualified person to answer that question. I'm not a doctor but I think its possible. How is his speech? You can tell a lot if he is slurring his words. I had to teach my dad how to talk again after a massive stroke. He didn't get his regular plain speech back but we could understand him. It will be hard for him because he might not be able to do some of the things he used to do. With love and patience though he will get better. Full recovery is very hard to predict, but the important think is that your father continues to improve. You'll need to talk with the doctor about all this. Fortunately, it is very possible for him to make a full recovery. There are countless cases, like his case, where full recovery was achieved. But from now on, he must refrain totally from cigar, have a regular doctor check, drink alcohol only when the doctor says yes, don't tell bad news, among other things. I wish him the best. |
