My mothe's left side is all swollen. Does this mean she has had a stroke?

When she stands for long time her knee is twice the size. When she sits for leg stilll swells. She conplains of pain continusly I've cought her drulling recentlyon that side. I think she needs to see Dr. but she has no insurance and is on low income

She may need to get the emergency room. She definitely needs to see a doctor. She can file for bankruptcy later if necessary. Anything just on one side can be a problem with the heart or the brain. PLEASE just get her to an ER. Once they decide how urgent her situation is, they can refer her to places that provide care to people without insurance.

Call any ER and they will tell you what to do. Don't get your medical advice from unqualified people.

My father had several strokes that were nearly undetectable! PLEASE get your mom some help now.

I love how people give you the advice " go to the doctor " like you don't know you should do that. Anyway it does not sound at all like a stroke, a stroke usually leaves a person limp or paralyzed on one side, not swollen. Swelling feet can be a sign of CHF (congestive heart failure). Eventually, she'll need to see a doctor, if there are any other symptoms such as difficulty breathing, dizziness, anything unusual. Remember, too, an ER has to treat you reguardless of your financial status.

I don't think that's a stroke. A stroke is a little more sudden. It could be varicose veins. Are her veins in her calves distended and do her calves look bruised?

You need to get her to the doctor if this persists.

I do not think she suffered a stoke because most stroke victims are paralyzed or limp on a side. I think you mother has an infection or maybe a torn muscle. Also there are free clinics that give free health care if that doesn't work who cares about the cost of seeing the doctor believe me a life of a loved one is much more important that being in debt.
