My mom could possibly have a stroke.. she is in the ER now.. I don't know what to think or do at all?!?

what should I do? I really worry about her. She was dizzy, her right side of the body was completely numb, her tongue was numb too, and when she smiled her lips were trembling. are those all signs of a stroke? how can i keep a positive attitude on this situation?

That is one reason I don't celebrate Mothers Day!! Bad things happen the first weekend of May almost every year.

You need to talk to the doctor or nurse and have them assure you that things will be fine. They can help you to come to terms with this.

Your mom should be ok in a few weeks. I know you are really worried. You will have to help her to get better when she comes home. When people get to medical help fast their chances of being well are greatly improved. You are very lucky to be near medical facilities.

Yes, life will change when she comes home. She will have to take several medications and change lifestyle. Better food plan and exercise plans. Try not to let the stress get to her for a while.

You can help most by praying for her good health, helping to get the housework done, and being a very helpful daughter. I know you can and will do these things anyway.

Love your mother as much as you can. I lost my mother about 20 years ago and miss her so very much.

talk about a happy mothers day....

there is nothing you can do but BE THERE for HER!

she SHOULD be allright, and YES it sounds like a STROKE

The American Stroke Association wants you to learn the warning signs of stroke:

* Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
* Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
* Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
* Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
* Sudden, severe headache with no known cause

hopefully she will pull out of this, most people do.

It could have been a minor one. Usually, if someone is having a stroke, they can't move one side of their body at all. And when they smile, one whole side of their mouth simply will not pull up. Try not to worry until it's necessary, because there really is nothing you can do until the doctors have diagnosed what's wrong. Good luck to you and your mom.

www.theheartdiseases.com..........
Deadly heart disease strikes more women than men
he traditional belief that heart disease predominantly affects men is false. In 2000, 36 per cent of all female deaths in Canada were a result of heart disease compared to 34 per cent for males. As women age the risk of dying from heart disease increases dramatically. Researchers believe that after menopause women lose the heart protecting benefits of estrogen. The result is a steep increase in heart disease and death. Women need to educate themselves on the risks of this deadly disease and play an active role in their own heart health.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but yes these are all signs of a stroke. She hasn't been diagnosed yet though so try to stay positive and hope it is something else, she's at the best possible place though if she is having a stroke. I'll say a prayer for you and your family good luck :-)

ok first of all, calm down, don't worry. ok next, never give up, as my friend says, she NEVER gave in to the fact that her grandpa was dying. don't give it. stay strong until the end. i don't know the signs, but i hope your mom feels better.
