Mini Stroke- how long after the symptoms can it still be detected? |
Someone I know started mumbling nonsence last night, and couldn't get her words out. She didn't tell us til today. We told her to go to emerg to get checked out. Can they tell what happened like 15 hours later? This happened to her a few months ago as well. She just staarted saying giberish. She was out of town, and didn't see a doctor til a month later. She's still waiting for results from a ct scan she had. If this was a transient ischemic attack (TIA), most signs disappear within a few hours, and there's no signs at all after 12 hours. She should still go to a doc - its possible that she had something other than TIA and she could be at risk, and if it was TIA, she may have some underlying problem that is causing it. In the meantime, she should an aspirin to reduce the chance of clotting. the symptoms of a stroke are pretty obivious and can be detected pretty easy . i don't think it was a stroke .because my sister had a stroke and once you go through that the side effects are pretty obivious and usually leave some tell -tell signs behind . but you never know because you haven't said what has been going on with her to led up to this . and yes 15 hours later thay can tell you what it was that made her act like that through doing a series of xrays and test . |
