My daughter had a stroke at birth? |
my daughter had a stroke at or during birth. my daughter is now 11 years old and i am just finding out she suffered a stroke. I am communicating with her Dr. but this is just to much at once. I am now learning she may have other complications, and delays. My daughter does have a speech problem I thought that she may just be a slow learner, and i am now learning that the stroke has contributed to her learning delays. Does anyone know any thing about this situation. You can find out more about it by looking up perinatal or prenatal stroke...it isn't that uncommon. Many are diagnosed in retrospect...when symptoms lead to performance of a brain scan and the affected brain tissue is identified. Your daughter actually sounds like she's pretty high functioning compared to some. I'm sure the news feels devastating now...but as you gain knowledge it will become easier and at least you'll know what you're dealing with. |
