Heart Attack versus Stroke? |
I am aware that stroke and heart attack are cardiovascular episodes. But what's the similarity between them? A stroke or a heart attack can result from arteries that have been damaged by arteriosclerosis. Arteriosclerosis happens when plaque forms inside the blood vessels, restricting their elasticity and causing them to become narrowed and brittle. If heart attack involves the heart muscle, something such as blockage or circulation problem causes damage to the heart. A stroke happens in the brain when blood flow to it is impaired by a blockage, leak, or something like that. A stroke can leave permanent damage to other parts of the body such as speech, the ability to swallow, walk or move. Heart attack is usually caused by a vein to heart being clogged causing damaged to heart mussels. Stroke is caused by clog in vein that blocks blood to brain causing death or damage to an area of brain. They are both blockages in the blood vessel. A heart attack is a blockage to the heart, and a stroke is a blockage to the brain. Stroke is a brain attack, usually due to blockage of blood vessel or bleeding. Heart attack is due to blockage of a blood vessel. They both involve blood vessels. |
