If your negative attitiude spreads to him, then no- he won't. You don't say how long it's been since the stroke, nor how long he's been doing physical therapy to regain use of the leg. There is still a lot they don't know about how the brain compensates for the damage to recover. In some cases, it actually seems to rewire itself to do things differently. What I can tell you is that he will stand a better chance of recovering most of the use back if he is in rehab, and if he is expected to recover. If you take a pessimistic view of his recovery chances, you can actually interfere with the amount of total recovery that does happen. I can't promise you he will walk out like nothing ever happened because I don't know how much damage was actually done. Neither does anybody else for that matter. I can tell you some folks do. A lot more will recover a great deal of their function, not all, but most of it. Some will have function to a lesser degree, and need help walking, but they will still walk. He may be restricted to a wheel chair, but only time will tell.

will give you all the info you need to know and help your husband recover. I know it may look bad now, but nobody can predict the future. All I can tell you is that your attitude is critical to the process. If you don't expect recovery, he probably won't. If you encourage him, he may just surprise you. Don't go negative now, if you love him- you need to be a cheerleader who looks on the positive side.

If his 3rd leg is working things will be alright.
