Heart Attack or Stroke versus Lifestyle Changes?

Once a person has had a heart attack or stroke can a lifestyle change prevent an occurrence?

There are combinations of things a person can and should do to guard against a second cardiovascular episode. The goal is to do everything possible to lower and stabilize both cholesterol and blood pressure. This means you should work to protect yourself by using medications, eating a proper diet and getting enough regular physical activity or exercise.

Lifestyle changes are key, even after a person has suffered a stroke or heart attack. Lifestyle changes do work. Not only that, but having a stroke or heart attack is a great motivator for adopting new behaviors. In fact, anyone who has had open-heart surgery is more than willing to make the necessary lifestyle changes.

am a heart patient myself. have also been a veggie for more than 25 yrs. in my case it was my gene pool ( more like a sespool ) making all the yrs of being a veggie crash. docs told me if i had not been a veggie for so long with the genes i have i wouldn't be here today. because of my diet all this bad stuff did not happen to me until 47. SO, if you change your lifestyle & not diet, it isn't as good as if you make it a complete change of lifestyle & diet. and nothing comes with gaurentee. if you change it WILL help, for me since my diet was already better than the doc would have me eat, my docs told me i needed to MOVE more, so i swim & walk between artwork. good luck - you CAN do this :)

Most definitely. It is a must to do. I've heard and seen what a stroke does. You don't want to live there.

Lifestyle changes can prevent recurrence to a certain extent.
