Do strokes cause memory loss? What causes memory loss?

A stroke is a bursting blood vessel. If in the brain, it causes the brain cells to die where there is no more blood flow to that area. So, depending on where the damage is, it could result in memory loss.

A disease which is the premature death of brain cells or the shriveling of brain cells is called Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's, you lose physical control.

Alzheimer's, you lose memory.

It's also not unusual for stroke and the disease to occur simultaneously if the person is elderly.

I know one thing that causes memory loss! A concussion.
