My brother had a stroke & can't speak aloud |
He's been in hospital for almost 2 months and is now starting to show improvement. His vocal chords are damaged from being on a ventilator for 5 weeks. He can talk, but you can't hear him so if you can read lips, you're good. If not, you're sol. I want to find some cards with commonly used words & phrases so he can say "I want to go outside" or "My leg hurts" or... Help? I am certainly capable of doing them myself, but I was hoping to find something already on the market. There are a lot of words and phrases out there, and since he's 150 miles from home, I want him to have something complete and well thought out. Thanks for your answer anyway. Maybe someone else knows if something like this is already out there for sale. He will probably have a physical therapist and an Occupational therapist and Speech therapists who will be able to direct you to what ever you are looking for but I can give you a few web sites where you can buy devices to assist with getting messages across. You might also consider some simple signs that are easy and have been useful to us. I have a disabled daughter and we use signing a lot with her when she can't think of the words. Good luck and I hope he feels better. Why dont u just print them on the computer or write them your self? |
