My auntie had a stroke yesterday . . .?

My mum says she's badly brain damaged and that i should expect the worst. My auntie says she's paralisied down one side and that they could learn her to speak again. They say we just have to wait and see what happens but i just don't whats going on.

Mum sat me down and told me and i just was in shock and was like no. Then i went out of the room sat down and it like hit me and i cryed and cryed. And now i'm just like she's not dead maybe she'l get better is this totally unrealistic am i getting my hopes up to much?
I love her so much, will she get better?

im really sorry about this.

i do medical researches so im gonna help you as much as i can ok?

The time it takes to recover is extremely variable. Commonly, people have a surge of recovery in the weeks after a stroke, followed by a slower recovery over the next year to 18 months.

she may gain talking and recovering by physiotherapy, and a speech therapist, to try and regain movement in her muscles.

there is hope, so be brave, and stay strong!

bbz it'll be ok i promise.
she might not get completely better but loads and loads of people learn to talk again and things.
shes still young, have faith.

p.s. i might ring you later, your mith said you'll be in after tea
xx

im so sorry that your auntie had a stroke!!!

p.s

The first 24 hours after a stroke is the time when the damage, if at all, can be assessed. Many people survive strokes, some making complete recoveries, some only partial, but hope and encouragement will never come in wrong. One side of the body controls the ability to speak, and is one of the clearest signs of stroke damage. Your aunt may recover her speech completely with the help of Hospital Therapists, but if she does not, please believe me, she will still be able to hear and process everything that is said around her, and can learn to communicate fully with anyone who is willing to take the trouble to find a way that works.

Your aunt is still, and will always be the same person, just some parts of her don't work as well anymore, but she knows everything around her, will enjoy her TV or music or whatever she enjoyed before, but recovery, to whatever extent, is a slow journey, Love her as you always have, and remember, this has been a huge fright for her, and she needs your help, love and friendship more than ever.
