Can smoking marijuana cause you to have a stroke?

I smoked a lot of marijuana Thursday night, more than I've ever smoked before. I was really stoned and just felt weird, couldn't think, couldn't concentrate, couldn't do simple things like type or write, you know, things that normally happen when you're stoned. I remember though, that the left side of my face felt numb and weird, like it fell asleep even though I could still feel it. It kind of felt like it was sand or something. I figured it was just a weird symptom from the weed because I've never smoked that much before you know, but now a few days have passed and it just dawned on me that it could be more serious than that. What do you think? I'm just afraid that I'm going to suddenly have a seizure or something any day now.

Smoking marijuana in excess can have an effect on the sensory nerves all over our bodies. Sensory nerves are the ones that send signals to the brain. They are what make us "feel" things. I'm sure you've experienced the enhanced sensory perception of and increased libido while high on pot (hypersexuality). This is the result of the effect that marijuana has on those sensory nerves located in your groin and abdomen. So, if you over indulge (too much of a good thing is not good!) you may also have sensory idsruptions from other areas of your body, like your face. Because our faces are hyper-sensitive anyways. There are no studies that directly link the use of marijuana with stroke, or seizures. Stroke (or a cerebrovascular accident) is caused by one of two things. Either an embolism (foreign object being transported by the blood), or the rupture of an arterial blood vessel inside the brain. An embolism is bad news because this foreign object (usually a blood clot) will eventually make its way into a blood vessel that is smaller than it, causing a blockage in the flow of blood into the brain. Small arteries within the brain can develop an aneurysm, which is an area in an artery that has stretched and become thin. Once it is too thin it will burst, and this will cause a disruption in the flow of blood into the brain. Either of these instances is what we call a stroke. Pot will not do this to you.

It raises your chances of having a stroke, just like normal smoking. I don't think it sounds like you had a stroke though, my dad had a very mild one and he was affected by it for weeks. I'd get it checked by a doctor, but I think it was just a side effect of being stoned.

Well. Marijuana has a death rate of 0. Nobody has actually been killed by marijuana. You would have to smoke atleast 180 pounds of marijuana to be killed by it. No you will not have a seizure. Or stroke.

no, pot is medicine and actually probably prevents strokes.

You were very stoned, not having a stroke.

no It is natural the best medicine

never heard that, but anything is possible

You were just really high. No stroke.

Any time you talk about pot, there's sure to be someone who claims it's the miracle cure for all the worlds ills.

No, there's no evidence that pot will cause strokes any more than tobacco. But why smoke that much? Are you trying to escape something? (it never works) Are you just giving up on living? (there are better drugs to kill yourself).

Wanting to get completely sh**faced like that means there's something wrong in your life and you may need some help. Either there's something you can't face, or something you can't handle. Either way, if you don't get through it, you're going to end up a broke and stupid ex con or worse.

A few tokes is great to enhance an already good experience with your friends. But what you did essentially destroyed the experience. Tell me, how much of what happened do you remember? I'll bet it's all just a bunch of moments in between fogs.

The inhalation of marijuana smoke, or the ingestion of THC, the
psychoactive derivative of cannabis, has a number of bodily effects.
Among these the most dependable are the effects on the heart and
vascular system. The most immediate effect of cannabis use by all
routes of administration is an increase in heart rate of 20-50 per
cent over baseline which occurs within a few minutes to a quarter of
an hour and lasts for up to three hours. Changes in blood pressure also occur which depend upon posture: blood pressure is increased while the person is sitting, and decreases while standing. A sudden change from a recumbent posture may produce postural hypotension and fainting, an effect which may explain the feeling of "light-headedness" and faintness that is often the earliest indication of intoxication in naive users. In healthy young users these cardiovascular effects are unlikely to be of any clinical significance. They may, however, magnify anxiety in naive users. The cannabis-induced tachycardia and postural hypotension may contribute to the panic attacks sometimes experienced by naive users who may mistakenly interpret the palpitations, and the feeling of faintness, as symptoms of serious misadventure, magnifying pre-existing anxiety in a positive feedback cycle that leads to a panic attack.
