What happens to plaque that has "broken off" inside your arteries if it never ends up causing a clot or stroke? |
do your kidneys filter it out? my reason for asking is, wouldn't routine periods of smoking, high sodium intake, and stress be preventative maintenance toward a large piece of plaque causing a heart attack? When a plaque breaks off the flow dictates that it will eventually get caught down stream. Arteries start large bore and get progressively smaller until they are capillaries (microscopic). Also once a plaque breaks off it induces a chain reaction of events to activate the blood to clot, thereby clogging the artery entirely at the point of rupture...even a small rupture. Your body absorbs it or the kidneys filter it, but routine periods of smoking, high sodium intake and stress, would be like trying to fight fire with fire. While I know that fighting fire with fire does happen, and does work, trying it on your body would be just plain silly. It doesn't work that way - it only puts another nail in your coffin, |
