I am a stroke victim. Getting better all the time. But I still sometimes get leg cramps in my bad leg.?

If I could only stop that! I'll wake up and my bad leg will be hurting like crazy! Other times, it doesn't hurt at all. I am clueless about this situation. Can someone help?

strokes effect the nerves, I think you realize this since you've been getting better!! That's Great!! Keep working @ it;; the nerves do a lot of neccessary & uneccesary triggering, unfortunately, it's hard to say if they will go away or not, time tells;; stimulation, like touch helps, but you have to be careful; if your on blood thinner, do not massage;; didn't say how long ago you had the stroke;; don't be afraid to ask your doc & therapists these questions, & expect an answer;; they'll help you out on your recovery;; could be your not getting enough circulation in your leg when your sleeping, that will also make your leg "cramp";; if you have your leg raised @ night it may be the time to get it off the pillow;; most important if it is circulation, keep the ankle moving; just elevating your leg appropriates the swelling to a different area rather than ankle pumps allowing to help you circulate through.. hope this makes sense

legs are the first place your body targets when you are dehydrated. Drink lots of water! I recommend purified water and Mineral Water mixed 50/50. The Mineral Water is going to put back into the muscles the minerals they are losing on a daily basis. You must drink beyond your thirst to get the benefits of hydration.

I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body.

If it's possible for you , In the evening take a hot bath with 2 cups of dissolved Epsom salts and soak for 30 minutes. Afterwards massage an analgesic cream into the area. You will start feeling better very quickly.

Take 500mg of calcium and magnesium every evening. This will help stop the cramping as these minerals have a significant relaxing affect on the muscles.

Eat a diet with lots of fresh green vegetables. These vegetables uncooked have tremendous amounts of minerals that will feed the muscles. Today鈥檚 diet is greatly lacking in fresh vegetables and fruits. The water that鈥檚 contained in vegetables and fruit has the greatest absorption of minerals into the body.
