What are the signs of a stroke or light heart attack in men?

My uncle has some numbness in the face on the right side near his mouth and numbness in his right hand. He is losing the grip in his hand and he talks a little funny.

Well I was going with a mild stroke theory until I read what you said about the hand. had you said left hand i would have stuck with stroke but if the right side of the face is affected then it would affect the left hand not right.

If someone has a right sided stroke (right side of the brain) it will affect the right side of the face. But the nerves cross over at the back of the neck, so any weakness caused below the neck will be on the left side of the body

It doesn't sound cardiac either. it sounds as though it is a neurological problem and likely to be something to do with the thalamus which relays sensory impulses.

it would be wise to tell your uncle to see his GP for blood tests and I am sure he will be referred to a neurologist.

Sudden weakness or loss of feeling on the face, arm or leg, especially if it is on one side of the body;
- The sudden visual impairment in one or both eyes;
- Difficulty in speech or understanding of the ordinary;
- Dizziness, loss of balance or coordination, especially when coupled with other symptoms, such as violations of it, double in the eyes, numbness, or weakness;
- Sudden, unexplained, intense headaches

Sounds like a stroke. He has very serious symptoms that require immediate medical attention. Take him to the hospital now.

Call 911 sounds like he is having a stroke. Don't wait just call..... Better to be safe then sorry for not calling 911.
