How can i walk normally again after a stroke?

during the start of my recovery it was very difficult to walk at all. And now i can walk pretty normally but i still feel kinda dizzy and i have a slight limp or drag with my left leg. please help me. what can i do to get back to normal. i had the stroke about a year ago. I find the dizziness very bothersome.

You're only a year out from your stroke and you can walk by yourself now?? It's been 9 years for me and I still have to use a quad cane. You are doing very well. The 1st year after is the hardest. You'll never be %100 percent again, you'll notice affects from even if others don't in the future. Stroke is different from person to person, only thing we all have in common is we lived cause it's the #3 killer in the US. Keep working on and you'll get there eventually you're doing great thusfar.

I have never had a stroke but this might help. I have used electro-muscle stimulation treatments for rehabilitating from knee reconstruction on both knees and one shoulder and for a "bad" back. It has really assisted me in recovery. I also know of one person who had a stroke and she has been using electro-muscle stimulation for about three years. According to her it has been a god-send and her limp is not noticeable at all anymore.
As far as dizziness I don't know. But maybe strengthening your legs (left especially) will help.

Long recovery from some things . Therapy may help but just doing and getting out and walking.
Friend was told he would never work again after his stroke , 3 years later fully employed as plumber, said he would never be able to climb a ladder , took a year longer to do that . Still has trouble looking up so has to compensate and get above the jobs he is doing.
Family member was told she would be invalid for life from stroke at 60, after rehab work and therapy , she drove around the US and Canada visiting relatives , became even more self suficent and only lived another 30 years completly independant life style.
