What exactly do people feel when they are having a stroke? |
And how do they know it? Some people feel nothing. Some people experience a sharp and intense headache. The majority seem to present with one or more of the following: Slurred speech, inability to control the arm, weakness (particularly on one side), facial drooping or the inability to move the muscles on one side of the face, such as when you smile). There are times when it is an instant killer. If you think you are having a stroke, you need to go the ER immediately. There is a time frame for which they can give you medicine to help the clot and they can do an immediate CT scan of the brain to ensure that this is not an intercranial bleed. Source(s): Paramedic 5 years; ER employee for the last two of those years. I think they feel sharp pain, then a weakness down one side of the body, depending on how bad the stroke, most people would collapse some loose conciousness.
