Hi, i麓m looking for people who had a family member suffer from a stroke?

hi, i want to know, well my dad had a heart attack and i麓m all the way in mexico city. his heart attack was about 1 week ago and im starting to like life down here. i麓m affraid that if he suffers from another one well i have to return to california, loose my job and loose my classes. anyboy know麓s how long till he has another one, let麓s see he likes to drink beer and smoke cigarret麓s and with the holydays coming who knows what could happend......

IF your dad had a stroke and not a heart attack it might be that he has suffered from either side of his body being paralyzed or he could have lose of speech. you really need to talk to your mom to see how he is . I've had 3 stokes and alto of TIA'S my first one was in 1995 and my last one was in 2003. I WAS very luck that God saved me . I only short term memory loss and a little weakness on my right side. You might try to consider your dad and mom right now . I 'AM sure your mom needs you.
you could lose your job and life, good luck
They are pretty random. They can strike at anytime. I hope he gets better!!
depends on what he is drinkin. red wine is good just not alot. Smoking doesent help
he'll have another heart attack right away, your father is not following doctors order no smoking, drinking, better healthy eating and exercise.
He's at risk for more damage or another stroke any where from in the next second to the next 10 decades.
My husband had 1 massive stroke and 6 minor ones in the 6 years since he's had his heart attack. No one can predict any such thing.
He must quit drinking and smoking.
Were talking about two different things here.

A heart attack is a blockage of one or more of the bloodvessels around the heart.

A stroke is a blockage of one or more of the bloodvessels in the brain. The latter is usually a lot more damaging. My mother died from one of those.

In both cases the first thing to be addressed is the diet, to get cholesterol levels and blood pressure down.

A glass of wine per day - good. More than that - bad
Cigarettes - absolutely bad, bad, bad!

First defense: Excersize. Just regular walks (sell the TV)
Niacin and low dose aspirin (under medical supervision)
Diet: Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. No saturated fat. Less meat (lean only) - more fish (no "seafood") chicken (no skin) and TURKEY (no skin.) Little carbs, like cake (NO FROSTING) and other sweets.

If he pays attention to what the doctors tell him, he should be ok and may outlive you.

I assume he has family here - if so, you have to put them in charge of watching your dad.
