What would a nurse do if they walked into a patients room and saw that they were having a stroke?

Just wondering what would they do first if they saw their patient begging for help with obivious facial paralysis and difficulty breathing.

call a code and have a crash cart handy. take bp and pulse and pulse oximetry (the oxygen level), apply or increase oxygen (if needed).
if bp high give meds stat. have another nurse call md to notify for further orders.
she pretty much had the answer ^^
check all stats you can.. get help.. don't leave pt.
get there vital signs, apply oyxgen as per standing orders(which is determined by there o2 sats obtained by pulse ox) elevate pts head, checkneuro status(chech for weak hand grasps, weak pedal pushes, during this you have a nother nurse call if there is one to help, while the cnas are getting vitals you go to pts chart to see if they are dnr status or not, which will depend on alot of what is done ,this may not be organized to you in how im writing it because some many things are going on at once.you call/page there dr and give him the info you collected and he/she will ask code status and you go from there.if the pt has a hx of strokes they mostly have a standing order for prn(as needed asprin) which you would give. and you would have crash cart there if needed
im a nurse
It would depend upon the severity of the stroke in progress. The nurse may call a "code"....There are various types of codes. Not all are code blues, which are called when someone's heart and breathing have stopped. One hospital I worked in called "code greens" which indicated an emergency, and the need for immediate response from respiratory therapists, nurses, lab techs and doctors, but not as high a level response as code blues.
